Job Summary CenterPoint Energy is looking for a Public Safety
Specialist to join our (department name) Team, located in Houston,
TX and Noblesville, IN. You will have the ability to: ensures the
Company follows Public Awareness regulations associated with 49 CFR
Parts 192.616 (API RP1162) and 195.440 as well as associated
portions of state administrative codes relative to public education
programs. This role will enhance public safety awareness and
support the damage prevention efforts by communicating messages to
key stakeholders. Essential Functions
- Works in conjunction with corporate and business unit
management in developing effective public awareness programs and
policies as well as directing the development, delivery, and
implementation of all elements of the public awareness
program.
- Comply with API RP-1162 as mandated by Federal and State
agencies and Company procedures.
- Represent the company in all areas of Public Awareness.
- Develop and deliver training with various stakeholder audiences
that are located within the region.
- Work with other Regional Public Awareness and Damage Prevention
Specialist to develop and implement consistent community education
programs.
- Involvement with state One-Call Centers, and state damage
prevention programs.
- Involvement with measuring the effectiveness of the Company's
public awareness program.
- Coordinate and attend Liaison meetings within the region and
document the results.
- Oversee the company program to interact with emergency response
agencies, including Fire Departments, Police Departments, Sheriff
Departments, LEPC's, and 911 Center's. Essential Functions

- Interact with local communities including neighborhood
associations, and schools.
- Conduct trend analysis related to root cause analysis for all
3rd party damages occurring within the region.
- Represent the region and actively participate in the Enterprise
Public Awareness and Damage Prevention Committee.
- Document contact(s) with the four key stakeholder groups.
- Participate in Federal and State audits to address Public
Awareness questions. Education Description
- Requires a bachelor's degree or technical degree from an
accredited college or university in Communications, Marketing,
Public Safety. Or in lieu of a degree six (6) years of relevant
experience in skilled craft. Experience
- Requires a minimum of two (2) years of communications or
demonstrated public safety or adult education experience. A bonus
