Description:
The Certified Medical Assistant at Bridges of Hope sometimes serves
as the initial face-to-face contact with our patients. The
Certified Medical Assistant will be conducting initial medical
duties in preparation for our medical staff who will provide
continued medical assistance. Our Medical Assistants will also
conduct administrative tasks in addition to their medical
duties.
Requirements:
Responsibilities--- Enhance the overall treatment process by
assisting your clients and the interdisciplinary team members
(therapist, physician, nurse practitioner, or nurse) to meet
overall treatment needs of clients--- Gather information through
self-report and collaboration with other providers--- Complete
intake assessments, consents, release of information forms,
disability paperwork, FMLA documentation, and make and monitor
referrals--- Obtain client vital signs, weight, urine/specimen
collection, glucometer and breathalyzer--- Act as a liaison between
a client and his/her friends, family, attorney, probation officer,
employer, disability insurance, sponsor, provider, pharmacy, etc.
--- Collaborate with various agencies to set up individualized
aftercare that keeps the client moving toward recovery ---
Coordinate and access ordered medications--- Document all
interactions with, and on behalf of clients, in accordance with
company policy--- Help to maintain clean and sanitary conditions
throughout the facility--- Participate in staff, treatment, and
leadership team meetings as appropriate--- Review urine drug screen
results and notify interdisciplinary team members of results---
Keep electronic medical record up to date, including scanning
documents to ensure complete client medical record--- Engage in
training sessions that offer learning opportunities that promote
and enhance skill and professional development--- Providing
additional resources as needed (employment searching, applying for
food stamps or health care, assist in getting he or she's license
back, applying for SS, etc.) --- Maintain confidential information
with tact and discretion beyond HIPAA --- Serve as initial patient
contact, initiates patient record and account. Greets patients in a
welcoming and caring manner, assists callers with information and
directions. --- Maintain daily patient schedule--- Answers phones
(operator, appointment, case management, etc.) in compliance with
service goals--- Responsible for patient registration. Interviews,
verifies and performs accurate data entry of patient demographics,
insurance and medical information to ensure integrity of records
and minimize claims denial if applicable. Also responsible for
basic insurance verification processes.--- Accepts upfront payments
(co-pays, co-insurance, etc.) and provides appropriate patient
receipts. Ensures proper documentation is provided. Balances all
daily charges and receipts. Competencies--- Demonstrate empathy,
understanding, and respectful behavior towards clients, client's
family members, coworkers, outpatient providers, and others while
maintaining appropriate boundaries--- Utilize crisis management
skills including, but not limited to, verbal de-escalation---
Demonstrate skills of being punctual, organized, dependable,
professional, and able to prioritize --- Represent the agency
within the community, coordinate with other agencies, and
facilitate transfers to different levels of care--- Utilize
insurance billing knowledge to effectively charge insurance for
services--- Utilize excellent analytical and critical thinking
skills with a high level of flexibility and diplomacy--- Ability to
work with others toward a shared goal, participating actively, and
contributing to the capability of the team--- Ensure that best
practices are followed in accordance with company policy and state
requirementsQualifications--- Associate level medical training
(Medical Assistant, Certified Nursing Assistant, or equivalent)
required. One year relevant experience preferred. --- Experience,
personal passion, or interest in substance abuse issues is strongly
preferred. --- Competency with Microsoft Office Suite---
Comfortable working with electronic health records (KiPU
preferred)--- Excellent verbal and written communication--- Front
and Back office experience required--- Commitment to drug-free
lifestyle and responsible alcohol use is essential--- Authorization
to work in the US is required--- Proof of vehicle insurance--- Copy
of driver's license--- BLS or CPR certification completed within 60
